6 August 2012 - The Holiday Place

This year’s World Travel Awards Caribbean and the Americas Ceremony 2012 will be taking place on the Caribbean island nation of Turks and Caicos.

The prestigious annual travel awards ceremony will be hosted by the CEO of Sandals and Beaches Resorts, Gordon “Butch” Stewart at the beautiful Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort Villages & Spa resort. The all-inclusive hotel is a favourite for family-friendly Turks and Caicos holidays and tropical weddings and honeymoons.

Hailed as the “Oscars of the travel industry” by the global media, the World Travel Awards Caribbean & The Americas Ceremony will honour the destinations, hotels and organisations that have largely contributed to the Caribbean holidays sector over the past 12 months.

The red-carpet ceremony will take place on 14th September, 2012 and will include a gourmet dinner, live entertainment and the anticipated awards presentation.

Graham E Cooke, the president and founder of World Travel Awards, stated: “We are delighted to be hosting our Caribbean and the Americas Ceremony 2012 in Turks and Caicos, a paradise destination currently enjoying a surge in tourism arrivals. The nation is entering an exciting new chapter in its history and tourism will play an even greater role in its economic evolution.

“As the country’s largest private sector employer, Beaches exemplifies the importance of travel and tourism in Turks and Caicos in generating jobs and tourism revenue. The resort has also taken the family vacation concept to a whole new level in the Caribbean,” he added.

Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort Villages and Spa is located in one of the Caribbean’s leading scuba diving destinations and is perfect for visitors of all ages going on Turks and Caicos holidays. The luxury resort features a 45-square-foot waterpark, a pristine 12-mile beach with warm crystal clear ocean waters, and three villages that boast architecture influenced by Italy, France and the Caribbean.

During holidays to Turks and Caicos, adults can indulge with a relaxing treatment at the Red Lane Spa while children and teens enjoy a wide range of activities at the Kids Club or teen disco, Liquid.

“The Turks and Caicos Islands are indeed very proud to once again be the host country for WTA,” commented Ralph Higgs, the Director of tourism at Turks and Caicos Tourist Board. “These awards recognise the best in the travel industry while also celebrating the rich diversity of the nominees: their culture, heritage, and people. Turks and Caicos Tourist Board welcomes WTA back to our beautiful shores where memories will be made for a lifetime, the hospitality and spirit of the people will forever be etched in the history of such an esteemed group of nominees.”

The Turks & Caicos islands are situated in the West Indies, north of the Dominican Republic and Haiti, and southeast of The Bahamas. The island nation is a popular destination for romantic holidays, weddings and honeymoons, and the Providenciales is one of the most popular spots with a wide selection of luxury Turks and Caicos hotels and resorts, white sand beaches, and gourmet restaurants. Tourists taking holidays in Turks and Caicos can enjoy walks along the famous Grace bay Beach, snorkelling or scuba diving in the warm turquoise ocean, or a visit to the naturally-formed limestone opening called The Hole.

The World Travel Awards were launched in 1993 to acknowledge and recognise excellence in the global travel and tourism industry. The winners of the regional heats will go on to compete for awards in the Grand Final Gala Ceremony at The Oberoi in New Delhi, India on 12th December, 2012.
