Curtain Bluff Hotel has once again distinguished itself when on Friday the VIP World Travel Awards gave the hotel the title of the Caribbean’s Leading Green Resort.

Hailed as the ‘Oscars of the travel industry’, the awards ceremony seeks to reward destinations, hotels and organisations that have made the largest contribution to the travel and tourism industry over the past year.

Managing Director Rob Sherman received the news with aplomb. He told The Daily OBSERVER, “It just means you try to do things for sustainable tourism.”

We are the first hotel to have a sewage treatment plant on island… we try to do recycle and it also include community service we get a lot of points for that helping kids at school over the years.”

Sherman said the accolade is one that reflects the commitment of the staff.

“It’s a grassroots thing. It’s everybody in the hotel, all the employees. It’s really an award for them.”

Curtain Bluff is also the recipient of a Globe Certificate.

Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa was deemed the Caribbean’s Leading Honeymoon Resort.

Jamaica won the Caribbean Leading Destination award for the sixth consecutive year, while the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) won the Caribbean Leading Tourist Board award for the fifth time in a row.
