On Friday the World Airport Awards selected the Jorge Chávez International Airport as the best airport in South America, for the fourth consecutive year.
According to Peru21, Skytrax Research - a market research consultancy firm specialized in airports - chose Peru’s main airport after surveying 12 million passengers, from 108 countries.
The airport was assessed by several different criteria, including access to the airport, terminal comfort, ambience, cleanliness, waiting times, immigration services, proper signs, baggage handling, and security controls, among others.
Last October the World Travel Awards named Jorge Chavez International Airport as South America’s Leading Airport, for 2011.
"The title of best airport in South America represents the recognition of ten years of work and effort to transform Jorge Chavez into a safe, efficient and modern airport, offering passengers quality service," Lima Airport Partner’s General Manager said.
